DiPVaC RESEARCH NETWORK
Discourse-Pragmatic Variation & Change (DiPVaC) is a research network for scholars investigating variation and change in what are broadly termed ‘discourse-pragmatic features’: this includes (but is not limited to) research on: discourse markers or pragmatic particles whose primary functions are interpersonal and textual (e.g. well, like, you know, comme, alors, doch, zwar, diciamo, dakedo); tag questions; silence; filled pauses; adjectives; adverbs; and general extenders. The network provides a platform for the dissemination and discussion of new research findings, the formation of new research collaborations, and the promotion of the field within and beyond linguistics.
This site contains useful information about the DiPVaC conference series and related activities; a list of scholars associated with the network, including the current members of the steering committee; a link to the DiPVaC mailing list; our contact details.
